Security First SDVS-1904 Setup (Not D-Link) Needing help with this. We installed the 4 cameras and the DVR. They're working fine. Now I'm trying to get it to come up on the computer so we can see the business remotely over the net. I ran the Cat5 cable and connected it to the D-Link DL624 router. From the DVR, I pulled the IP address and port that the router assigned it per the instructions. I set it to port 08000. Then I set up the router to forward port 8000. I set a static IP for the DVR in the router. It was able to clone the MAC number from the DVR. Looks like I did everything right. But no connection. I have the software installed on the computer. I set it to port 8000 with the same IP number as the DVR and click connect, but it just sits there and never connects. I can open a command window and ping the DVR and it answers me. But no picture. The computer is a late-model HP running Vista home premium. It's connected to the internet thru the router and a Motorola Surfboard cable modem. I have tried 2 versions of the Integrated Remote Station software, set both up according to instructions but nothing. WHAT AM I MISSING? This thing SHOULD work.

I'm not sure if you are still looking for the answer, but I think the problem may be that you need to enter the PUBLIC IP address of the modem at the remote end instead of the PRIVATE (ie. 192.168.1.x) IP that was actually assigned to the DVR. It works best if you assign a static IP to the DVR on the remote end and enter that IP into the router's DMZ. You might also want to get a free account at and setup a FQDN for your business router/modem. That way you can connect to it using something like "" instead of an IP address, and if the IP changes it will still find it. You will also have to configure your modem at the business to automatically update the dyndns server when the IP changes.

I am attempting to repair a Digimerge VCE 308301 (the 8 channel network DVR system) The client is able to view the setup menu but unable to to get an output signal from the cameras. The system runs it is in record mode -the record indicator, date, and time are visible on the screen- however the multi-play display screen for each camera is blank. Is the main board's (DNC1109) and daughter board's (DNC2103)video card fried? How do I obtain a schematic on the system? Thank you. Respectfully yours- John- Ash Creek Computer Repair

The problem did not have anything to do with the DVR (Digimerge VCE 308301). It did however, have everything to do with the cameras' power supply system. First, I contacted the company's (Digimerge) tech department; and they were of no help since the DVR system is obsolete. There are no replacement/spare parts available; e.g. mainboard and daughter boards...and of course, they don't have schematic diagrams for the DVR either. And due to its obsolesence- there is no tech support. (It makes me wonder why, though, how security and electronic vendors can in good conscious sell this obsolete model DVR for $1,400 and upwards of $2,200.00 to the unsuspecting consumer/end-user.) Since I was able to boot up the DVR system and access the BIOS menu; and considering that the screen was showing that it was in record mode- and the system BIOS was keeping the proper date and time, I believed that there was something else going on with the security system. I contacted the customer and went out to their home- as I was about to hook up the cameras to each input behind the DVR- by happenstance, I checked the power supply panel to make sure that the power supply had been turned off (which the home owner failed to do). Having turned off the cameras' power supply, I then made all my camera hook-ups to the DVR. When I turned the power supply to the camera system on, I was able to get a video signal, hence a nice clear picture. I did check the voltage draw on each power terminal at about 12.5 vdc and a visual check on the infra- red led's on each of the security cameras were lit. Problem solved, right!?...WRONG! Several hours later, I received a call from the homeowner that his security system was not working again. The first thing I noticed as I pulled into the customer's driveway was that all the cameras' infra-red led's were out. I immediately placed my volt meter on the output side of the transformer at each of the cameras' power terminal- and waddya' know- I was barely reading over 1 vdc. Apparently- over time, the transformer starts to overheat and the voltage drops out. After it cools down though, the voltage resumes to 12.5vdc to power up the cameras. This is my first experience working on a secuirty camera system so I hope this has been as much of a learning experience for you novices as it has been for me!
