The most likely problem is that the software that the camera uses is limited as to the number of simultaneous users. You could upgrade to a simple Pelco or Dedicated Micros server, and then the number of users can be in the hundreds, I believe. Let me know through a post if this is not the problem.

Security First SDVS-1904 Setup (Not D-Link) Needing help with this. We installed the 4 cameras and the DVR. They're working fine. Now I'm trying to get it to come up on the computer so we can see the business remotely over the net. I ran the Cat5 cable and connected it to the D-Link DL624 router. From the DVR, I pulled the IP address and port that the router assigned it per the instructions. I set it to port 08000. Then I set up the router to forward port 8000. I set a static IP for the DVR in the router. It was able to clone the MAC number from the DVR. Looks like I did everything right. But no connection. I have the software installed on the computer. I set it to port 8000 with the same IP number as the DVR and click connect, but it just sits there and never connects. I can open a command window and ping the DVR and it answers me. But no picture. The computer is a late-model HP running Vista home premium. It's connected to the internet thru the router and a Motorola Surfboard cable modem. I have tried 2 versions of the Integrated Remote Station software, set both up according to instructions but nothing. WHAT AM I MISSING? This thing SHOULD work.

I'm not sure if you are still looking for the answer, but I think the problem may be that you need to enter the PUBLIC IP address of the modem at the remote end instead of the PRIVATE (ie. 192.168.1.x) IP that was actually assigned to the DVR. It works best if you assign a static IP to the DVR on the remote end and enter that IP into the router's DMZ. You might also want to get a free account at and setup a FQDN for your business router/modem. That way you can connect to it using something like "" instead of an IP address, and if the IP changes it will still find it. You will also have to configure your modem at the business to automatically update the dyndns server when the IP changes.

Wireless security I have a dlink DI524 router. How do i set up security on it? I have lost the installation CD. Thank You

Hello sir,GETTING STARTED How to Physically Connect the D-Link 1. Plug an Ethernet cable into the DSL modem. Plug the other end of the cable into the "WAN" port on the D-Link. 2. Using an Ethernet cable, plug any wired computers into any of the 4 Ethernet ports on the D-Link. How to Access the D-Link Configuration Screen The D-Link is configured using a Web browser. After you have connected your computer to the D-Link router, follow these steps: 1. Launch your Web browser. Enter "" into the address bar and press the "Enter" or "Return" key. 2. A logon pop-up screen will appear. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank. 3. Click "OK". A D-Link configuration screen will appear. All changes to the D-Link configuration are made here. GENERAL SECURITY MEASURES Change the Admin password Leaving the password blank is not a good idea. It should be changed to something more secure. To change the password, go to the D-Link configuration screen and: 1. Click the "Tools" tab. 2. Click the "Admin" button. 3. Under the "Administrator" heading, enter the new password, and a second time to confirm. 4. Click "Apply". 5. The next time you access the D-Link configuration screen, you will need to enter the new Admin password. Disable the Wireless LAN If wireless access is not necessary, you should disable the wireless part of the D-Link. This will prevent anyone from accessing the network wirelessly. (If you are using the wireless features, please skip down to "Wireless Security Measures".) From the D-Link configuration screen: 1. Click the "Home" tab. 2. Click the "Wireless" button. 3. Click the "Disabled" button next to "Wireless Radio". 4. Click "Apply". 5. You are done securing your wired network. No further action is required. WIRELESS SECURITY MEASURES Enable WEP Enabling WEP* (Wired Equivalent Privacy) will require anyone wishing to access the Internet through your wireless network to enter a password. After the correct password is entered, a connection is established, and all data sent from the D-Link to the computer and back is encrypted. From the D-Link configuration screen: 1. Click the "Home" tab. 2. Click the "Wireless" button. 3. Click the "Open System" button next to "Authentication". 4. Set the "WEP Encryption" to "128 bit". 5. Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII". 6. Type a 13 digit password into "Key 1". 7. Click "Apply". 8. When you connect to your wireless network from a computer, you will need to enter the 13 digit password. *Note: If your computer's operating system supports it, enabling WPA-PSK is more secure than WEP. The steps above can be modified to set up WPA-PSK. Change the SSID By default, the D-Link is set to advertise the existence of your wireless network to computers. It does this by broadcasting an SSID (Service Set Identifier), also called a "network name" because it identifies your wireless network. Changing the SSID makes it easier for you to distinguish your network from surrounding networks. From the D-Link configuration screen: 1. Click the "Home" tab. 2. Click the "Wireless" button. 3. Change the "SSID" from "default" to an SSID of your choice. 4. Click "Apply".Please don't forget to comment thisGood luckCheers!!!!!!!!!!
