GE Simon 3 Add or Change a Sensor to my system?

You need to use an installer code to add/remove sensors. Depending on what number of digits your alarm code is set for will determine the number for the intaller code. Look in the installer manual for the code. Then follow these steps: Open the panel. Key in installer coe Select Add Select Sensor/Remote Activate the sensor you want to add. Some sensors have a button, some have to opened to activate. Choose sensor name and group. Groups are listed in the manual. Basically, if you want the sensor to arm when the doors arm (such as for a window sensor or door sensor) put it in group 10 or 13. If it's a smoke sensor, group 26; motion detector, group 17 and keyfob, group 01. Press done when finished and run the test to make sure the system is reading the sensor.

We figured out that you need a master installer code, and we found some on-line. There are 4-6 standard codes that installers use, and we found the one we needed. We fixed our problem and now our system is up and running again, finally!

Hi! Just had ADT install security system and it is a Simon XT. Door units, motion sensors and control unit are in house. They also put a motion sensor in garage, which is detached. My understanding is that alarm will sound in house with main unit if there is entry in garage. That's good but I would also like to have a siren / alarm go off in garage also. Is there a way to add a siren in garage easily where motion sensor is installed and do you have / carry it? Thank You!

My understanding is that GE does not produce a wireless interior siren any longer. So if yo want to get a siren in the garage a wire will have to be run from the Simon 3 to the location in the garage where you would like to place the siren. PS ADT will not run wires to a detached garage. GL

GE Simon Security System - help!!

The default for option 10 is 30 seconds and option 11 is 60 seconds. It sounds like option 10 is turned off because when turned off the entry delay is set to 005 seconds. All entries must be 3 digits. You ca set option 10 and 11 from 005-254 seconds. Hope this helps

I have a GE Simon Security System with a GE Simon 3- X10 Line Carrier Transformer that powers a siren. Since the X10 transformer was installed, I constantly get sensor 'failures.' Although the panel status shows a failure, the alarm will still sound if that sensor is opened, so we think it is a false failure. My home also has an X10 system that controls several outside lights from a master panel. The security company that installed the system has been unable to solve this problem. So far, they have replaced all the sensors that have 'failed' (several times) and also replaced the panel itself. This did not stop the problem. Is the the problem due to some type of interferance in the wiring because there is X10 wiring in the home? Can you help me? Where do we go from here other than to replace the X10 transformer with a regular transformer, which means we will not have a siren in the basement. Thank you!

X10 is a signal format transmitted over the power lines, there is no special X10 wiring in the house as such. The siren and your outside lights are X10 receivers which are sent a signal from the X10 transformer connected to the alarm panel. The alarm panel sends the codes which are transmitted as X10 to the X10 external devices. Most houses now days have at least two 120 volt feeds coming into the main power panel, this provides the 240 volt required for electric stoves and dryers. Because of the two separate feeds split at the panel, the 60 cycles is usually out of phase with each other. To get X10 to work and stay in phase on each side of the panel you need to have wired a passive coupler across both 120 volt inputs. This coupler keeps both 120 inputs in phase with each other and provides a clear X10 transmit across the house wiring.

I have GE simon 3 - Purchased ION MICRA -G wireless window and door compatible sensors. Didn't come with how to add sensor. Wants me to push button on sensor; where is that button

Took me awhile to figure this one out. When you are in the "Learn Sensor" mode and it says to trip sensor, insert the battery into the sensor. Your Simon should then acknowledge with a beep.

The 'tamper signal' for entering this device is sent to the panel automatically when the battery is installed into the unit. If you cannot get the panel to receive a tamper from a known good sensor, you must remove the battery, short the + & - terminals on the sensor to get rid of capacitance and reinstall the battery when the panel is ready to receive a signal.
