Alarm goes off went armed as well as strobe won't go into armed mode

Smoke sensors will trip if dust accumulates in them. Get a can of compressed air like they sell for cleaning the vents in computers and try blowing the dust out. That should reset your sensors, If not you could disable the fire sensors for your trip and get it serviced when you return.

I have a GE Simon Security System with a GE Simon 3- X10 Line Carrier Transformer that powers a siren. Since the X10 transformer was installed, I constantly get sensor 'failures.' Although the panel status shows a failure, the alarm will still sound if that sensor is opened, so we think it is a false failure. My home also has an X10 system that controls several outside lights from a master panel. The security company that installed the system has been unable to solve this problem. So far, they have replaced all the sensors that have 'failed' (several times) and also replaced the panel itself. This did not stop the problem. Is the the problem due to some type of interferance in the wiring because there is X10 wiring in the home? Can you help me? Where do we go from here other than to replace the X10 transformer with a regular transformer, which means we will not have a siren in the basement. Thank you!

X10 is a signal format transmitted over the power lines, there is no special X10 wiring in the house as such. The siren and your outside lights are X10 receivers which are sent a signal from the X10 transformer connected to the alarm panel. The alarm panel sends the codes which are transmitted as X10 to the X10 external devices. Most houses now days have at least two 120 volt feeds coming into the main power panel, this provides the 240 volt required for electric stoves and dryers. Because of the two separate feeds split at the panel, the 60 cycles is usually out of phase with each other. To get X10 to work and stay in phase on each side of the panel you need to have wired a passive coupler across both 120 volt inputs. This coupler keeps both 120 inputs in phase with each other and provides a clear X10 transmit across the house wiring.

System Low Battery

Response 1 is correct. If you plugged the transformer into an outlet before connecting the battery the system wont see the battery and give you that error. Should be a simple fix however. Unplug the battery and then the transformer, then reverse the process. Plug in the battery and your Simon should power up, then plug in the transformer. If this doesn't help then you should replace the battery. Did you buy the system from a dealer and have it professionally installed or did you do-it-yourself? If it was professionally installed have your technician come back out to diagnose/replace the battery if needed. Good Luck.

Using DTIM with digital phone service

It turns out that because Comcast uses VoIP, the Simon can't use it to call in reports. I ended up having to switch monitoring companies to one that specifically uses internet monitoring. The solution was to buy/install a wireless g bridge into the phone output on the alarm panel, and then connect it (wirelessly) to my home network. No major problems since then.

DTIM with digial phone service

I install these types of alarms. First, What is usuallly plugged into the cables main box? Usually it is a jack. This would run to the main phone lines in the house, and allow you to have service at alll the jacks in the house. If this was not the case, then you usually just plug your phone in directly. Either way, the tel #1/2 on the main box is the same principal as the two main lines comming in off the street with the phone company. If there is a jack, get another and a peice of 2/4 strand wire. (If you have a 8 pin bell jack let me know if not follow.) connect the red and green at the main jack to the red and green of the new jack. Plug in the DTIM and go. If it is just a plug in the phone directly then i suggest getting three jacks. plug a regular phone cable from tel 1/2 into the first jack. Then connect the red and green to the next red and green. this is the DTIM jack. Then do the same to connect a phone jack for your phone. I have installed lots of simon 3 systems but never with a DTIM> I also install alot of GE Allegro panels and they come with the DTIMs. Are you having it learn in properly? It should be group 39 on the system. At least it is on the other panels. Good luck.

We have the #60-875 system. 1.About every 5 minutes, it says module is OK. How do we get this to stop? We cannot get the system status light to turn off. What do we need to do to turn the turn system status light off? thanks for your help. 2.Are we able to tie this alarm system in to the Control 4 System, We understand it needs to be either IP or RS232 capable. What do we need to do to make this possible?

IP means Iiternet provider: your ISP (the controller module needs to be connected to the internet by using a: RS232 cable a serial computer cable connected to a home computer. Read the book or, contact the company to see how to connect the alarm as, I do not know how it has been installed and, can not "see" it from here. Hope this helps you.

GE Simon XT panel lights window, door and motion indicators

The system is working as designed. If you arm both doors/windows and motions, but you DON'T exit the premises during the exit delay, the system will "downgrade" its arming to doors/windows only. The assumption is that you haven't actually left the premises and are at risk of creating fale alarms. This behavior can be disabled in System Configuration (though it may require the dealer access code to do it).Try opening and closing a sensored external door (even if you don't go outside) during the delay after arming doors+motion and see if the motions don't stay active.
