Can't figure out how to change smoke detector battery

I don't have the manual so I loosened the unit from the wall to look at the back panel. It is hard wired with a battery back-up. The "plug in" part doesn't pull straight out--the edges fit into tiny slots on the side and there is a little flap that fits over the top part of the battery chamber. I can't get the battery out without getting the plug out of the way. I tried pulling the plug and sliding it up to disengage it, but no luck. The beeping is driving me crazy. Help!

Hello I have the 6270 touch screen keypad, however when I tried to armed (clicked into security/then select either AWAY, STAY or NIGHT) nothing happen I just heard a click and that it, do not arm, and there is no fault's displayed, the only different thing that I saw is that in the security screen a Low Battery is blinking. I changed the battery on my smoke detector but still showing. I dont know why is doing that because the system is plug to straight to the electricity. Can you please help me Thank you Fernando B.

Sounds like the system battery may be low. The system batter is usually located , depending on the system, in the main box in a closet. The system battery powers the system in the event of a power outage.

Kidde smoke detector without a door or tab for back up battery - where do I find the battery so I can change it. It has been beeping for close to 39 hours. Installer did not leave a users manual. (The above says this service is free - if not, don't answer)

Some smoke detectors are AC-only, so there is no battery. Dual-power units typically have the battery compartment on the back of the unit, where it attaches to the wall or ceiling. Most units must be removed from their mounting bracket to change the battery, as the battery cover is on the back. You rotate the unit about 1/2 turn counter clockwise, and it should come off the wall/ceiling. If it has an AC power connection, you unplug that so you can change the battery more easily.
